The Richard T. Robertson School of Media and Culture at Virginia Commonwealth University will not be holding the annual Virginia Communications Hall of Fame in 2017.
As the Robertson School is focusing its commitment to reaching its ongoing fundraising capital campaign goal, it has decided to postpone the annual Virginia Communications Hall of Fame induction ceremony until spring 2018.
An official call for nominations will be distributed to the media and posted on the School’s website and social media channels 60 days before the nomination submission deadline.
A press release will also be issued in fall 2017 to announce the 30th class of the Virginia Communications Hall of Fame inductees and the event details, including the ceremony time and date, as well as location and ticket sale information.
In 1987, George Crutchfield, the founding director of the VCU School of Mass Communications (now Robertson School), made history by creating the Virginia Communications Hall of Fame. Today, there are 165 advertising, journalism and public relations professionals who have been recognized for their exceptional careers and inducted into this elite group.
In October 2016, the Robertson School made its own history by being a part of Virginia Commonwealth University’s “Make It Real” capital campaign. This is the first-ever capital campaign the Robertson School has participated in. The School is dedicated to achieving its goal so that its students and faculty will have the necessary resources essential for preparing the next generation of journalists and communications professionals.
The Robertson School is looking forward to announcing the 30th class of the Virginia Communications Hall of Fame, along with the event details in the upcoming months.
