Spring/Summer 2024: Richmond International Film Festival - Various Positions

The Richmond International Film Festival (RIFF) is an international 6-day festival held in Richmond, VA. One of the largest international competitive festivals in the mid-Atlantic, RIFF brings more than 150 film premieres plus a variety of film and music industry events and community engagement opportunities. An additional mission of the festival is developing the film and music industries across the state of Virginia. Festival week also includes screenwriting & film/music panels, Q&As, live music showcases, mixers, the FLOW Creative Conference, the new Global Visionary Summit, and the annual red carpet awards, all of which bring the spirit of Hollywood to the Commonwealth.

With the aim of promoting award-winning films as well as discovering the industry’s next up-and-coming talent, RIFF works to promote its participating filmmakers, musicians, and writers through various media outlets and production partners. RIFF has been a key platform in the creative development of Richmond and now in its 12th year is a sought out international festival for artists across the globe. Available Internships: RIFF has 3 positions open for the Spring/Summer semesters. The position is ideal for those looking to develop foundational skills in one of the following areas: communications, film, music, business, general marketing, social media, journalism, graphic design, event planning, festival organizing, public relations, or related communications field. The internship is unpaid and may be used for credit or simply for learning and resume experience. For those who excel there may be future opportunities to grow with the company.

Qualifications: Candidate should have basic educational or training in one or more of the areas mentioned above. They should be well organized, dependable, work well within a team setting, and be eager to learn the ins and outs of the industry.

Position: Part-time. Internship can be used for credit hours at participating schools and Universities or without credit depending on the desire of the respective candidate.

Responsibilities: Assist in administrative tasks and the coordination of general festival planning, social media, marketing, design, outreach, film and music planning, and overall event production. Interns get close up, behind the scenes experience at various aspects of business and what it takes to produce an international film and music festival.

Hours, Start Date & Term: Approximately 15 hours commitment per week. For the current open positions, candidates must reside in the greater Richmond area. Start/End Date: Begins in late January for Spring & May or June for Summer. Participants also take part in the 13th annual festival mid September. Interviews are underway. Length of program approximately 10-12 weeks with option to renew a second term for those who excel. Weekly hours are split between in office time and remote projects from home.
